Welcome to Cineplex Entertainment LP’s “The Golden Compass – London World Premiere” on-line contest (“Contest”).
Sponsor : Cineplex Entertainment LP (“Cineplex”) is the sole sponsor of this Contest and is solely responsible for conducting and administering this Contest.
1. How to Enter:
No purchase necessary. Contest begins at 12:00 (Noon) PM E.D.T. Monday, October 29th, 2007 and ends at 12:00 PM (noon) E.D.T. on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008. (“Contest Period”). To enter, go online to Cineplex.com and complete the online entry form including the skill testing question. A contest entry form is located at http://www.cineplex.com
2 Prizes:
Grand Prize:
There is a total of (1) one Grand Prize available to be won. The Grand Prize is a Trip for Two (2) to London, England to attend the London World Premiere of The Golden Compass at the Oden Leicester Square Theatre. The Grand Prize consists of:
- Round Trip economy class airfare (via carrier selected by Sponsor) for two (2) people to travel to London , England on on November 24th , returning November 29th , 2007 from one (1) of the following Gateway airports nearest to the Grand Prize winner’s residence :Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal Saskatoon, Regina);
- Hotel Accommodations at the Radisson Edwardian Kenilworth (excluding incidentals) in a Stardard room based on double occupancy.
- Two (2) tickets to the "The Golden Compass" premiere at the Oden Leicester Square Theatre in London on November 27th, 2007
- Two (2) tickets to the "The Golden Compass" VIP after-party event
Winner and traveling companion must be available to travel November 24th to November 29th, 2007. Winner and traveling companion will be responsible for all ground transportation to and from airports, medical or other insurance, meals, gratuities, taxes and other expenses not specifically described as included in the Grand Prize. Winner and guest must: (i) abide by all rules & regulations of the Contest as well as any directions and instructions of the Sponsor or the Grand Prize may be forfeited, in whole or in part, and (ii) travel together on the dates specified by the Sponsor or the Grand Prize will be forfeited. Air tickets are not valid for frequent flyer mileage. Approximate value of The Grand Prize is $3,500.00 CDN, based on a departure from Vancouver. Actual value will vary depending on location of winner’s Gateway airport.
No changes will be made to travel details once any portion of the travel arrangements have been confirmed. The Grand Prize winner and traveling companion must hold and present a valid Canadian passport, including all necessary government documentation to travel to theEngland.
Secondary Prize:
There are Five (5) Secondary Prizes available to be won consisting of:
- A $500.00 Cineplex Entertainment Gift Card
Approximate Retail value of each Secondary Prize is $ 500.00 CDN.
All Prizes are subject to change and can be substituted at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.
3 Prize Drawing:
Grand Prize:
Sponsor will select in a random drawing on Wednesday, November 14th 2007 at noon EDT in Toronto, the potential Grand Prize winner. Sponsor will attempt to contact the selected potential Grand Prize winner by email or telephone up to 3 times during business hours between November 14th and November 15th , 2007, after which, if unsuccessful the Sponsor shall discard the selected entry and randomly select an alternate winner. This process shall continue until the Grand Prize has been awarded. The Grand Prize winner must sign a declaration confirming understanding of, compliance with, and acceptance of the Contest rules and acceptance of the Grand Prize as awarded and a standard release of all liability satisfactory to the Sponsor before being declared the Grand Prize winner. Sponsor must receive the declarations and release forms from the potential Grand Prize winner and their traveling companion by the specified date or the potential winner will be disqualified and will not receive the Grand Prize.
Secondary Prizes:
The Sponsor will select all Secondary Prize winners in a random draw on January 3rd, 2008 at noon E.D.T in Toronto.
Prizes are as described, are not transferable, and cannot be substituted or exchanged for cash, or any other prize. Prizes are non-refundable, non-saleable and must be accepted as awarded. The Sponsor reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to make substitutions of equivalent kind or value in the event of unavailability of all or part of any of the Prizes for any reason whatsoever. With respect to all Prizes, The Sponsor retains the right to request eligible winners to sign a declaration before being awarded a Prize.
4. Eligibility:
Contest is open to legal residents of Canada, (excluding Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, North West Territories, Nunavut, and the Yukon), who are over the age of majority in their province of residence as of Monday, October 29th, 2007. Contest is not open to employees and those domiciled with employees of the Sponsor , Alliance Films or any of their respective parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies, licensees, advertising and promotional agencies (“Related Parties”). Sponsor reserves the right to verify the age of potential prize winners and that such persons are not employees (or domiciled with employees) of any Related Parties. The Grand Prize winner and their guest must be available to travel November 24th – 29th , 2007. Void where prohibited.
5. General Rules:
The Sponsor shall not be liable for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, not received, stolen, mutilated, or illegible entries. By entering this Contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and independent judging organization, if any, which are final, binding and conclusive on all matters relating to this Contest. All entries become the property of the Sponsor, none will be returned and no correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrants who will be notified by telephone or e-mail. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify all entrants who fail to follow these official rules and regulations or who make any misrepresentation relating to the Contest, drawing and redemption of the Grand Prize and Secondary Prizes. This Contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal legislation. Entry constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, photograph, and/or voice recording for publicity purposes without additional compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law. Decisions of the Sponsor are final with respect to all aspects of this Contest.
- The Sponsor shall not be responsible for any failure of the website during the promotion or for any problems or technical malfunction of a telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail, on-line, or Internet entry to be received by the Sponsor. In addition, the Sponsor shall not be responsible due to technical problems, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. The Sponsor reserves the right, at their sole discretion to cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
- In the event of a dispute, online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the person who is assigned an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. If the identity of an online entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder associated with the email account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry name change. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of a valid online entry in this contest will be the contest server machine(s).

6. Privacy:
At Cineplex, we are committed to respecting your desire for privacy. Any personal information that we gather will be handled in strict accordance with our privacy policies and all applicable privacy legislation. Cineplex will not sell your personal information collected for this contest to any third parties. Any personal information collected for this contest shall be used by Cineplex as is disclosed herein. Please note that by submitting personal information to Cineplex, you consent to our use as described herein http://www.cineplex.com/Global/PrivacyPolicy.aspx.
7. No Liability:
Sponsor shall not be responsible in any way for the use of, or bear any liability whatsoever in any way attributable to, the Prizes awarded in this Contest or the events forming part of this Contest.
8. Quebec:
For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of this contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
The Sponsor reserves the right, with the consent of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (the “Régie”) in the Province of Québec, to terminate or amend this Contest at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, such as tampering, the Sponsor reserves the right, with the consent of the Régie, to cancel the Contest and conduct the random draw from all previously received eligible entries and mail-in entries received by the Contest Closing Date.
