Toy Story and Toy Story 2 return to the big screen in 3D!

By Ingrid Randoja

Some old friends are returning to movie theatres looking a lot more lively than when we last saw them. Buzz, Woody, Hamm and the gang from Toy Story and Toy Story 2 return to the big screen on October 2nd, but this time in 3D!

Toy Story (released in 1995) and Toy Story 2 (released in 1999) were huge hits for Pixar, the same movie studio that gave us The Incredibles, Cars, Finding Nemo and Up.

The movies focus on the secret life of toys. In Toy Story we meet Andy, a little boy who has a room full of toys and games. His favourite toy is Woody, a cowboy doll. But on Andy’s birthday he’s given a new toy — action figure Buzz Lightyear — who becomes Andy’s new favourite toy. The toys come to life when humans are not around. And they all know that they are toys — that is, everyone except Buzz. Buzz believes he really is a space commander who can fly and shoot lasers.

Woody is jealous of Buzz and thinks he’s a moron. But when Buzz is accidentally pushed out of Andy’s bedroom window, it’s up to Woody and the gang to retrieve him.

In Toy Story 2, Andy is off at summer camp when his mom has a yard sale. Woody winds up in a box of broken toys and is toynapped by a greedy toy collector named Al McWiggin, the owner of “Al’s Toy Barn.” Al plans to ship Woody off to a toy collector in Japan, so Buzz has to lead a rescue mission to save Woody.
