In Meet the Robinsons, a 12-year-old boy is whisked into the future
Lewis is a fuzzy-haired, 12-year-old kid who has spent much of his life living in an orphanage. He’s a bright boy, and is constantly coming up with new inventions that he hopes will impress potential parents and convince them to adopt him. Unfortunately, his inventions have a habit of backfiring at the worst possible times and scaring people away.
So Lewis decides his next invention will be one that actually helps him figure out some things about his birth. It’s a memory scanner, and if it works, it might just help Lewis remember something useful about his mom and dad.

But just as Lewis is about to present his invention at a science fair, an evil man in a bowler hat steals the scanner. Who is that guy, and what would he want with Lewis’s invention?
Enter Wilbur Robinson, another kid about Lewis’s age, but who’s not really like Lewis at all. For starters, this kid — Wilbur — has a time machine! Wilbur snatches Lewis from our century and drags him far into the future where he introduces Lewis to his own very eccentric family, the Robinsons. Lo and behold, the evil man in the bowler hat is there in the future too, and he’s got some scary plans for Lewis.
Despite the fact that the Robinsons are, by far, the most interesting people Lewis has ever met, he feels he must return home to his own time in order to find his family.
But it turns out the Robinsons need Lewis to help them out with a problem of their own…
