THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN

Stars: Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes
Director: Andrew Adamson (Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)
Story: The Pevensie kids return to Narnia a year after their initial adventure and find that 1,000 years have passed in the alternate world. During that time the evil king Miraz has usurped the throne from the rightful heir, Prince Caspian, and the Pevensies must set things straight.


STEP BROTHERS

Stars: Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly
Director: Adam McKay (Talladega Nights)
Story: After their parents get hitched, Brennan and Dale have to learn to get along, share a room and avoid being beaten up by neighbourhood bullies. The joke? Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) are middle-aged men.

WANTED

Stars: Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy
Director: Timur Bekmambetov (The Arena)
Story: Mild-mannered office worker Wesley (McAvoy) learns that his estranged father is a professional assassin for a mysterious organization called The Fraternity. Or was. Dad was just killed and now The Fraternity — in particular, a gun-wielding talent named Fox (Jolie) — wants to train Wesley to take his place.

THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE

Stars: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson
Director: Chris Carter (debut)
Story: Trapped in a rehab facility for sex addicts, Fox Mulder... Oh no, wait. Fox Mulder (Duchovny) is pulled out of hiding to help the FBI, and his old partner Dana Scully (Anderson), find those responsible for the disappearance of a string of women.

THE DARK KNIGHT

Stars: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger
Director: Christopher Nolan (The Prestige)
Story: Having already grossed more than $990,000,000 worldwide before even hitting DVD shelves, this little  flick doesn’t need your support. But rent it anyway, for Ledger’s inspired turn as a maniacal Joker bent on returning Gotham to the crooks.


HORTON HEARS A WHO!

Voices: Jim Carrey, Steve Carell
Directors: Jimmy Hayward, Steve Martino
Story: Two of Hollywood’s top comedians team up to voice the Dr. Seuss classic about a sensitive elephant (Carrey) whose big ears pick up the voice of the Mayor of Whoville (Carell) that’s coming from a tiny speck of dust.
DVD Extras: a two-disc set includes deleted footage, animation screen tests, “Bringing the Characters to Life,” interviews with cast and crew, We Are Here! game


DECEMBER 16


THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR

Stars: Brendan Fraser, Jet Li
Director: Rob Cohen (Stealth)
Story: When adventurer Alex O’Connell (Luke Ford) inadvertently awakens a ruthless Chinese emperor (Li) from an eons-long sleep he has to ask his parents, Rick (Fraser) and Evelyn (Maria Bello), for help getting the situation under control.
