Nick and Norah’s playlist sounds pretty good

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist Playlist

So-so bass player Nick (Michael Cera) has just been dumped by his girlfriend. About to head to college, music aficionado Norah (Kat Dennings) is having an early life crisis. Somehow, they hook up and spend one magic night traipsing through New York’s underground club scene, looking for a secret gig by a legendary rock band. Yeah, great story. But when the movie is called Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist what we really want to know is, ummm, who’s on the playlist? Well, here it is, the soundtrack listing for this season’s hippest Gen Y movie.

As expected, it features a stellar lineup of mostly indie bands — plus Natalie Portman’s current squeeze, Devendra Banhart.

• Chris Bell, “Speed of Sound”
• Devendra Banhart, “Lover”
• Bishop Allen, “Middle Management”
• Vampire Weekend, “Ottoman”
• The Dead 60s, “Riot Radio”
• Takka Takka, “Fever”
• The Submarines, “Xavia”
• We Are Scientists, “After Hours”
• Band of Horses, “Our Swords”
• Army Navy, “Silvery Sleds”
• Richard Hawley, “Baby You’re My Light”
• Shout Out Louds, “Very Loud”
• Paul Tiernan, “How to Say Goodbye”
• The Real Tuesday Weld, “Last Words”
• Mark Mothersbaugh, “Nick & Norah’s Theme”

KA-CHING!

Next time you dig deep into your jeans pockets scrounging for bus fare think of Miley, Daniel and Zac.

Your favourite stars are raking in some serious dough (and you’re giving it to them). Forbes Magazine recently released their annual “Celebrity 100 List,” which reveals how much money celebrities collected from June 2006 to June 2007. Here’s a list of the top young earners (all figures in U.S. dollars).

1) Miley Cyrus and Daniel Radcliffe tied for first. Fifteen-year-old Cyrus and 19-year-old Radcliffe earned $26-million apiece!

2) Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen earned a combined $15-million, despite the fact that neither appeared in a major movie that year.

3) All together, the Jonas Brothers made $12-million.

4) Zac Efron pulled in $5.8-million all by himself.
