Anne Hathaway2012 has been nothing but nice for Anne Hathaway. After a couple of box office duds (see: One Day and Love and Other Drugs, or make that don’t see them), the congenial brunette is back on top in a big way.

First there was her kick ass performance as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises that made us see her in a whole new light. And now Anne is closing out the year with a bang by starring in the big screen adaptation of the musical Les Misérables, complete with award noms. Not only is it a chance for her to showcase impressive singing chops, it’s a role Anne embraced inside and out with a near starvation diet to achieve her character Fantine’s poverty stricken body and completely cropping off her shiny mane. We applaud Annie for her commitment to her craft, when she does something she doesn’t half ass it. Take developing a chicer, riskier side to her style, for instance. Her 2012 outings proved there’s no more Missus Nice Girl, and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
