This week in the celebrity spotlight: Drew Barrymore and Justin Long “Go The Distance” at two premieres - the stars of Scott Pilgrim kick it in London – Christina Applegate flaunts her baby bump – Fantasia returns for real and George Michael admits guilt.
- Drew Barrymore and Justin Long brought their chemistry to the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of their romantic comedy Going The Distance. The former flames shared some laughs as they posed for the cameras. But Justin didn’t arrive at the event solo. His date for the evening: his mother Wendy. Joining pregnant co-star Christina Applegate was her fiancé Martyn Lenoble. Christina happily showed off her growing baby bump. Also in attendance: Drew’s BFF Nancy Juvonen and her hubby Jimmy Fallon plus actresses Kate Beckinsale and Malin Akerman. A few days earlier at the London premiere, the on again off couple dished on what attracted them to the movie.
- Also happing in London, the cast of Scott Pilgrim vs The World was out in full force at the premiere of the comic book adaptation. Joining director Edgar Wright were stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Brandon Routh, Anna Kendrick, Ellen Wong, Jason Schwartzman and Kieran Culkin. Michael Cera’s character battles the seven evil exes of his love interest played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead – who offered seven reasons to see this film.
- Singer George Michael caused a media frenzy outside a London courthouse after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana. The 47-year-old pop star was given a six month driving suspension and warned he could face jail time after crashing his car into a photo processing shop on July 4th.
- In the Big Apple, singer Fantasia returned to the stage for the first time since an attempted suicide by an overdose of pills landed her in the hospital. The 26 year old American Idol winner was in good spirits during her performance on TV’s Good Morning America as she belted out “Bittersweet” - the new single off her third record “Back To Me”.
- Also promoting a new album in the city, singer Katy Perry, who stopped traffic in a skimpy Herve Leger dress outside the David Letterman show. After signing autographs and posing for photos, the 25 year old carried on pushing her second mainstream pop record “Teenage Dream”.
- It was all about the fans for newly single actor Hayden Christensen – who was in city doing promotion for his upcoming movie Takers.
- Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt was back on the New York set of his action thriller Premium Rush. Joseph plays a bike messenger caught up in some intrigue.
