The safety of the President of the United States rests in Channing Tatum’s capable hands (and biceps) in White House Down. When a paramilitary group takes over the White House, a Secret Service agent (played by Tatum) is tasked with saving the life of the country’s main man (Jamie Foxx) in the upcoming action flick which co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Montreal is doubling for Washington, D.C. as the movie is currently filming on a soundstage until the end of the month. You can expect a lot of nail-biting action and explosive scenes from director Roland Emmerich who previously showed us how the world is going to end in 2012, and has destroyed New York City by both weather (The Day After Tomorrow) and monster (Godzilla). And he has previous experience in blowing up the White House- he’s the guy behind Independence Day. If the first photos from the set are any indication, we can expect lots of running and explosions.
