Forget about the comic book-based
blockbusters. Maybe it’s the heat, or maybe it’s the presence of endless
six-packs, but either way the buzz about summer’s hottest flick belongs
to Magic Mike. As a troupe of well-formed male exotic dancers, Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello and Matthew MacConaughey are worthy competition for even the sleekest suited superhero. No CGI needed.
And while cinema goers will be flocking to theatres to see the fellas take it all off, we can’t help but acknowledge a select group of guys that look equally h-o-t fully clothed. Because, let’s face it, the style of every heartthrob isn’t exactly on par with their stellar genetics: Exhibit A, Johnny Depp. So when a guy like Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield or Liam Hemsworth gets it right, he deserves some applause.

Ryan Gosling Ryan Gosling is clever and charming. He breaks up fights and saves lives - literally. He brings his mom to red carpet appearances, and he wears the heck out of a suit. And we’re not talking about the standard issue black blazer and pants – he takes risks. Case in point, the textured tweedy number and white t-shirt he wore to the Drive premiere. Oh, RGos, you had us at ‘Hey Girl.’ |

Channing Tatum When Channing Tatum first sashayed onto the scene, few would have thought that this Step Up star would become an in-demand leading man. Sought after by Soderburgh, no less. What’s not so surprising is that this 6’ 1” Southern boy looks equally handsome in a suit as he does in a good ol’ pair of jeans. With a blazer, relaxed layers and polished footwear, the Magic Mike star puts an A-list spin on denim. |

Liam Hemsworth He may be the lesser-known little brother, but Liam Hemsworth could give big bro Chris a run for his money in the style department. The Hunger Games star knows the cuts and colours that play up his hulking frame and twinkling blue eyes to maximum impact, like a tailored one-button suit in an iridescent grey fabric. And with a slew of films in the works, including the much anticipated second Hunger Games flick, he’ll have plenty of red carpet opportunities to prove his sartorial skills. |

Andrew Garfield It takes you-know-whats to pull off leather, a bold plaid and bright pants all in one go, so kudos to Andrew Garfield for making it work. The dude has a history of daring clothing choices; trust us, we’ve been checking up on him. He’s not afraid to rock a burgundy suit or layer a knit under a blazer while never looking like he’s trying too hard. Clearly he’s taken the sentiment of his The Amazing Spider Man role to heart: with great power comes great responsibility, and that includes dressing well. |

Alex Pettyfer When male model good looks and a British accent are part of the package, the expectations for chic wrapping are high. Luckily, Alex Pettyfer, co-starring in Magic Mike, doesn’t disappoint. This up and coming actor, with a runway-ready frame, has thus far made a good showing at awards shows, stepping out in smart-looking blazers and Don Draper-esque ‘dos. Alex, a recent Young Hollywood Award Winner, adds a stylish dash to his international man of mystery persona, and leaves us wanting to see much, much more. |

Robert Pattinson With the final Twilight chapter nearly behind him, it’s time for Robert Pattinson to flex his acting muscles and show the world what he can really do. And we’ll be watching his wardrobe just as closely. If his latest showing in Cannes is any indication, this Cosmopolis star will keep us more than satisfied with his sharp and fashion-savvy choices. |

Chris Evans Aw, shucks. It’s just like Captain America (a.k.a. Chris Evans) to want to help out the fashion-challenged and demonstrate how to pull off a three-piece suit without looking fuddy-duddy. Step one: Choose a fabric that packs a punch, like an oversize check. Step two: Make sure the fit it slim and trim. Step three: Accessorize like The Avengers star, add tough-guy touches like a huge watch and three-day old scruff to keep things modern. |
