Leave it to James Cameron to find a way to bring audiences even closer to the high-flying, whimsical action with Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, which he executive produced.
While the Quebec-based troupe's ambitious, audacious acrobatics have long entranced audiences, both during their live shows and on the big screen, the use of 3D cameras and a narrative that follows two lovers across multiple Cirque storylines is, according to Cameron, the most immersive experience yet, as the cameras weave in and out to give a real sense of the performers' gravity-defying acts, allows for a closer look at the challenging choreography and offers a renewed appreciation of the costumes and finer details that go into making these shows so engrossing.
We had the chance to speak with the Oscar-winning director-producer about joining the circus, so to speak, and how 3D offers something new for Cirque du Soleil.
Watch our interview with James Cameron below. Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away opens in select theatres December 7 and opens in limited release December 21. Check here for showtimes.
