Playing the son to baddie Carmine Falcone, embodied by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins, Gordon-Levitt's Alberto eventually becomes supreme villain Holiday, although whether or not Nolan plans to follow the storylines from The Long Halloween or Dark Victory, favourites of his according to /film, and show Alberto's transformation is yet to be seen.
Either way, snagging this role marks a coup for Gordon-Levitt who continues to impress, dabbling with bigger budget films and arthouse-style indie fare.
He joins the already-stacked cast including Oscar winner Christian Bale as Gotham's favourite son, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and fellow Inception hunk Tom Hardy as villain Bane.
The news, reported by Variety, confirms long-standing rumours that Gordon-Levitt would be involved in Nolan's third time tackling the caped crusader, purportedly his last time working on the Batman series though Bale has said he would return if Nolan wanted to do a fourth.--
