A mere two days after taking to Twitter to rant about fellow troubled young actress Amanda Bynes, who Lindsay Lohan believed was getting preferential treatment for her own driving infractions, menace to the road LiLo has again been arrested for something that happened while she was behind the wheel of a car, though no alcohol was involved.
According to the Associated Press, Lohan was arrested as she leaving Manhattan club the Dream Hotel at about 2:25 am this morning on charges that she clipped a pedestrian with her car and then didn't stop. She was allegedly slowly driving her black Porsche through a crowded alleyway between the club and Maritime Hotel, honking her horn so the crowd would part when the clipping in question occurred, prompting the 34-year-old victim to call 9-1-1 and then head to the hospital where he was treated for a knee injury. He's since been released.
The actress, who is currently playing the lead role in the Elizabeth Taylor TV biopic "Liz & Dick," was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and causing injury, though walked away with only a ticket before she is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Lohan already got into a car accident this summer, when her car collided with a dump truck on the way to set June 8, sending her and her assistant to the hospital, though neither was seriously injured and she is on probation until 2014 for an unrelated incident involving her and a necklace and not paying for it.
While she is officially a working actress again, after a few rough years of most only being seen her via courtroom cameras, Lohan's continued struggles with the law show she has a way to go before she escapes the punchline fodder her troubled life has become. And maybe she will take this karmic set of events to heart and not publicly position herself as the misunderstood victim next time she feels that Bynes, who was spotted driving around L.A. with a suspended licence before having her car impounded, or any fellow irresponsible driver is getting away with making poor choices. Meanwhile, we still hold out hope that the Lohan of Mean Girls, and yes Freaky Friday, can herself out and really make a comeback where the focus is firmly on her big-screen return and not dalliances with the legal system.
But what is with young, filthy rich actresses not having drivers? But down the Chanel purse and start paying someone to make sure you arrive at your destinations safely and don't injury anyone on the way.
UPDATE: Lohan's people released this Shakespearean statement about the arrest: "While some of the facts are still being gathered, it appears that this is much ado about nothing. We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue."
