What do The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Road, Mystic River, and The Shawshank Redemption have in common? They’re all adapted from books. From epic novels to short stories, some of Hollywood’s most popular movies have been based on books.
Liberties are taken, stories are truncated, characters and settings are changed, but one thing remains true in that the original source material came from the written page. Some of the most-anticipated films landing in theatres in 2012 are based on books, including Anna Karenina, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, Life of Pi, and perhaps the most eagerly awaited film of all, The Hobbit.
