The Mummy, War for the Planet of the Apes, a new Venom movie, and more make our weekly movie news!

We've got trailers on trailers coming at you in this week's movie news! We would also like to tell you (if you haven't already heard) that Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Inception) will be playing comic book villain Venom in a stand alone film. We are absolutely pumped by this casting news!

Venom is a villain commonly seen in the Spider-Man comics. Although, whether or not Spider-Man will be appearing in this film is unconfirmed. The last time we saw Venom on the big screen he was played by Topher Grace in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.

Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad, Zombieland) will be directing and it's been given an October 5, 2018 release date. Check out the tweets confirming the news below and have fun waiting over a year for this one...

The final trailer for The Mummy dropped this week and we're on the edge of our seat for this one! Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) looks horrifying as the title character, while Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) round out a stellar cast. This remake follows an ancient princess who is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension. Check out the trailer below and see The Mummy when it hits Cineplex theatres on June 9th!

A new trailer for War For the Planet of the Apes dropped this week and we are not disappointed! Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. Quit monkeying around, watch the trailer below and see War for the Planet of the Apes when it hits Cineplex theatres on July 14th!

A brand-new trailer for The Emoji Movie dropped this week! Inside our smartphones is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favourite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone's user. In this world, each emoji has only one way to express emotion - except for Gene (T.J. Miller), a "meh" emoji who is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become "normal" like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Anna Faris). Together, they embark on an epic "app-venture" through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the source code that will fix Gene.

If this trailer is anything to go by, this movie is sure to be fun for the whole family! Catch it in Cineplex theatres on July 28th!

A new trailer for The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature debuted this week! Following the events of the first film, Surly and his friends must stop Oakton City's mayor from destroying their home to make way for a dysfunctional amusement park. Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, and Maya Rudolph return to bring the laughs as these cute little critters. After watching the trailer we think this one's going to be just as good as the first film, if not better. Check out the trailer below and see The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature in Cineplex theatres on August 11th!

Finally, The House just dropped a new Red Band trailer this week! Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell go from two loving parents to gambling criminals... which sounds like a comedic dream come true. The trailer's hilarious but pretty raunchy so viewer discretion is ADVISED

After their daughter gets accepted into the school of her dreams, Scott (Ferrell) and Kate (Poehler) Johansen realize they don't even have enough money to buy a McDonald's hamburger, let alone four years of school tuition. In order to make tuition money, the pair team up with their neighbours and open an illegal casino in their basement, and you can only imagine the ridiculous situations they will get themselves into. Check out the trailer below and see The House in Cineplex theatres June 30th!
