Despite best intentions, research, expertise, personality, adrenaline and sheer chutzpah, when you sit down across from another person, or pick up the phone when the call comes in, interviews can go badly.
Not fiery-crash bad, where the other person rips their mic off and storms out with a dismissive "We're done here!" but it can be awkward or forced, or worse yet, boring. Luckily, there are always those pros who bring their A-game and are happy to talk up their projects, bring passion to every press day and make everyone in the room feel relaxed.
In a year that saw us talk to muscly actors shaking their money makers, a curmudgeonly Christopher Walken and the dreamy Mark Ruffalo, not to mention brave inhumanely-packed red carpets and stay sane in the face of TIFF, we can't really complain.
With 2012 coming to a close, it's time to look back at those chats that went supremely well. Let us indulge in a little tooting of our own horn and check out our Top 10 interviews. Get the rest of the Best of 2012 right here.
