Marc Webb's upcoming superhero reboot shall remain nameless no longer, with Sony/Columbia Pictures announcing that the film will be titled The Amazing Spider-Man. A decidedly old school choice, the film shares the name with the original Marvel Comics book series that followed the web-slinging crime-fighter.
In addition to giving the film a proper moniker, a shiny new photo of Brit "It Guy" Andrew Garfield has been released, this time in full Spidey regalia, mask, suit and all.
Earlier in the year, a rather sombre photo of Garfield as Spider-Man showed our young protagonist in a tattered blue and red suit with a menacing look in his eye, hinting at a darker tone for this upcoming re-telling.
In the newest pic, Garfield is poised and ready to shoot some sticky webs out of his wrists, as is his way, and prepare for battle against enemies like The Lizard (Rhys Ifans) and Proto-Goblin (Irrfan Khan), who will make appearances as Spidey's villains in the film.
The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled for a 2012 release and also stars Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.
