Les Misérables is about to sing its way into theatres and we have your behind-the-scenes peek at filming of the movie in this featurette.
Introduced by Jean Valjean himself, triple threat Aussie actor Hugh Jackman looking a little more Wolverine than tragic literary hero, the featurette focusses in on Hooper's ground-breaking decision to have the cast sing their numbers live on-set. Most big-screen musical productions have the actors record the songs in-studio, as part of pre-production, and have the actors sing along to the track when filming the actual scenes. The A-list cast -- including Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried -- each weigh in on the unusual technique and speak to the freedom it gives them as actors to lose themselves in the scene.
Take a look behind the scenes below plus check out several clips from the film below:
In addition to Hathaway, Jackman, Redmayne, Seyfried and Crowe, the film also stars Sacha Baron Cohen as Thénardier, Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thénardier and newcomer Samantha Barks as Eponine. And fans of the musical should keep their eyes peeled for a cameo from the original Valjean, Colm Wilkinson, as the Bishop of Digne.
