Considering that just a few short years ago she was credited as "Frantic Girl" in a TV movie about high schoolers, Jennifer Lawrence has not wasted much time being one of those pretty faces you can't quite name and went very quickly from unknown actress to Oscar® nominee, for 2010's Winter's Bone, and is now joining forces with the Academy to announce the 2012 nominees.
The 21-year-old, who stars as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming, potentially-bigger-than-Twilight tentpole film The Hunger Games, will wake up painfully early to share the list of Oscar hopefuls with Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Tom Sherak at 5:30am PST on January 24.
In addition to her star-making turn in Winter's Bone, Lawrence has appeared in The Beaver, Like Crazy and X:Men - First Class and recently wrapped David O. Russell's The Silver Linings Playbook, although it's safe to say she'll making her biggest impression on the immense and rabid fans of Suzanne Collins' books when she steps into Katniss' shoes come March 23.
The 84th annual Academy Awards will be presented on February 26, 2012. In the meantime, catch up on everything Awards here.
