It’s all about feeling the need for speed and putting the pedal to the metal! With the sixth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise speeding into theatres, we’re looking back at some of our all-time favourite chase sequences on film.
From the Steve McQueen classic Bullitt featuring some of the most heart-pounding chase scenes up and down the steep streets of San Francisco to the racing Mini Coopers in 1969’s The Italian Job, we’re big fans of old school racing. Of course, there’s room for some modern cars and tricked out rides in Gone in Sixty Seconds, Quantum of Solace, and the movie that started it all, 2001's The Fast and the Furious.
You’ve got a green light to cast your vote for the movie with the best chase scene(s) in our poll on the next page!
Moms come in all forms on and off the big screen. We’ve rounded up some of Hollywood’s best big screen mamas for our poll as we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend.
These moms run the gamut from the uber protective moms in The Blind Side and Almost Famous, moms that pack a punch like Sarah Conner in Terminator 2, MILFs like Stifler’s Mom in American Pie, and the so-glad-she’s-not-our-mom Serial Mom . There’s Bambi’s mom whom we shed a tear over every single time, and everyone’s favourite Psycho, Mrs. Bates. After all, a boy’s best friend is his mother.
It’s the mother of all polls. We want to know which memorable movie mom is your favourite. Hit the jump to cast your vote!
Robert Downey Jr. is a jack of all trades. He’s played everything and everyone from famous comedian Charlie Chaplinin a role that landed him is first Academy Award nomination to serial killers, yuppies, detectives, men made of iron, and a white dude playing a black dude in Tropic Thunder (which landed him his second nomination).
We can’t help but love a guy who would drop to one knee and pose family portrait-style with Sir Ben Kingsley at a recent photo call for Iron Man 3 in Moscow. We’re still in awe at his appearance at last year’s Comic-Con in San Diego where he danced down the aisle, surprising fans at the Marvel panel. Sadly, we can't choose that as our favourite performance by the actor.
Hit the jump to vote for your favourite Robert Downey Jr. performance!
Wedding season is upon us! As Amanda Seyfried prepares to walk down the aisle in this week's ensemble comedy The Big Wedding, we’re talking weddings in this week's movie poll.
We’ve had our share of blushing brides on the big screen over the years and there’s more than a few nuptials that have stood out, whether they’re the stuff dreams are made of or because they go hilariously and calamitously awry.
Who could forget the opening scenes of The Godfather with Connie Corleone’s nuptiuals where Mama Corleone gets up to sing in front of the gathered family in joyous celebration or Ben Braddock’s frantic race up the stairs of the church and Elaine’s impassioned scream from the altar in the climax of The Graduate.
Is a classic wedding scene tops on your list or do you prefer one of the more recent flicks? Hit the jump to cast your vote!
In Pain & Gain,Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie gained some massive muscle to play the buff but clueless bodybuilders of the Sun Gym Gang, a real-life trio of kidnappers and extortionists. Based on a series of articles published in a Miami newspaper in 1999 profiling the inept hardbodies of Sun Gym, Pain & Gain allowed the actors to bulk up big time to mirror their characters’ real-life counterparts.
Wahlberg, Johnson and Mackie packed on pounds of muscle for their physical transformations but some actors opt for a more subtle route by donning prosthetics and heavy make-up to play a real-life character.
Cast your vote in our poll for the best physical transformation by an actor to play a real-life character after the jump!
Baseball has been a big screen presence since 1920 when the first movie about the game unspooled in front of audiences. A silent documentary called Heading Home about ballplayer Babe Ruth is credited with being the first movie about baseball and its players, ushering in a trend that has lasted over ninety years, and continues this week with the release of 42, a look at teh career of Jackie Robinson on and off the field.
Baseball movies have only gained in popularity in the past three-plus decades- over 93 movies about the game and players on and off the field have been released since 1980, covering just about every genre of film, including documentary, family flicks, comedy, drama, romance, and thriller.
We’ve combed the baseball archives and come up with a selection of ten of the most popular baseball movies for our poll. It’s your turn at bat: which baseball flick is tops on your list?

It’s been 20 years since Jurassic Park was released in theatres which should have given you plenty of time to memorize lines, yell at Dr. Alan Grant to drive faster or tell Martin Ferrero the unlucky lawyer that a bathroom stall probably isn’t the best place to hide from an hungry T-Rex. Not to name names or point any fingers, but maybe you’ve been quoting Dr. Ian Malcolm’s chaos theory since 1993 and helping populate Jeff Goldblum memes and fan art on Tumblr for which the world wide web is eternally grateful for.
Now that you’ve had 20 years to decide which character is your favourite, it’s time to cast your vote. Who’s your favourite Jurassic Park character? Devious Dennis Nedry or Mr. Jurassic Park himself, John Hammond? The gang of Raptors in the kitchen or the poor sacrificial goat?

They’re coming for us. Aliens have had their eyes on our sweet bods for some time and are just waiting until the moment is right to swoop down and snatch our bodies, turning our perfectly groomed and coiffed selves into some kind of human costume. If the movies have taught us anything, it’s that we’ve been primed for a hostile takeover from outer space forces…but we’re willing to put up a fight a fight to save our skins. Literally.
Saoirse Ronan straddles the invader/invaded line in The Host as alien life form Wanderer and human Melanie Stryder strike an alien/human balance within Melanie’s physical body. It’s the latest in a long line of alien invaders who have been snatching up bodies on the big screen for decades.
Hold onto your skin and cast your vote in our poll for your favourite body snatching, alien invasion movie!
