What is the Access 2 Entertainment Card?


The Access 2 Entertainment card allows persons with a disability to receive either free admission or a significant discount for their support person at member movie theatres and attractions across Canada.

 

Who administers the program?

The Access 2 Entertainment program is administered by Easter Seals.

How does the card work?

Present the Access 2 Entertainment card when purchasing tickets with your support person at participating movie theatres and attractions. The individual with the disability pays regular admission and the support person receives his or her admission free or at a significant discount.

Where can the Access 2 Entertainment Card be used?

The card can be used at Cineplex Entertainment, Empire and Landmark theatres, the Toronto Zoo, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Casa Loma, the CN Tower, Ontario Place, the Ontario Science Centre and the Royal Ontario Museum, just to name a few. Who can apply?

Persons with a permanent disability who require a support person when attending a movie or other attraction are eligible to apply for the card. There are no age restrictions. The applicant (or guardian) must agree to follow the terms and conditions (which can be found on the application form) when using the card.

Who is a support person?

A support person is an individual who accompanies a person with a disability to provide services that are not provided by employees at the theatre or attraction, such as assisting the person with eating, administering medication, communication need and use of the facilities.

I work for an organization where staff takes groups of people with disabilities to the movies and attractions. Can my organization get a card for staff use?

Cards are only issued to individuals who have a permanent disability, and who require a support person. Access 2 Entertainment does not provide cards for organizations or staff cards.

What is the cost?

There is a $20 administration fee. However the card is valid for 5 years.

How does one apply?

To apply for the Access 2 Entertainment card, you must complete the application form and mail it, along with the administration fee, to:

Questions regarding the use of the Access 2 Entertainment Card at Cineplex Entertainment:

Does Cineplex Entertainment charge a fee for the support person?

No. While the person with a disability is required to pay the regular price of admission, the support person is permitted to accompany him/her without charge.

 

Can I use the Access 2 Entertainment Card to purchase my ticket online?

At the present time, the cardholder must purchase their tickets at the theatre box office.

Can the Access 2 Entertainment Card be used with Cineplex passes?

Yes. All of our passes, including Be Our Guest and Courtesy Passes, VIP Cards, Premiere Cards, Admit One coupons, Cineplex Night Out coupons, Child Night Out coupons, and all other Cineplex and Corporate Partner-branded Night Out coupons such as AIR MILES are acceptable forms of payment for the cardholder.

Can I use the Access 2 Entertainment Card to attend movies in Imax®, UltraAVX®, or Front Row Centre Events (such as the Met Opera)?

Yes. The Access 2 Entertainment Card can be used for film and non-feature film presentations.
