Your skin is made up of different layers: on the surface is the epidermis (the visible skin) and under that is the dermis. The dermis is responsible for the hydration of the epidermis, nourishing and regenerating it with its many blood vessels, its access to the lymphatic system (which provides nutrients) and its elastin fibres (which sustain the epidermis and assure its suppleness). Elastin and collagen, the terrible twins of skin care are produced in the fibroblast, cells situated in the dermis.
Over the course of time the repeated muscle movements of the face, combined with the devastating effect of free radicals on the epidermis, diminish the potency of the elastin fibres, and production of collagen within the dermis is reduced. The net result is: Wrinkles...
