Hakeem and A-Mac (Anthony Macdonald) are like brothers. Together they face the challenges of immigrant life in Montreal, overcrowded underfunded schools, overworked parents, and cultural gaps. And like all teenage boys – they chase girls. A-Mac is the 'smooth talker', and is constantly pushing naturally shy Hakeem to up his 'girl game'. But, unlike other kids, these boys spend their nights 'spotting' high-end cars for Hakeem’s uncle at his carwash. And when spotting isn’t enough. They move on to the real deal. Useful to the mob because of their underage legal status, the heart-pounding thrill of the 'boost', and easy money are a draw for the boys. Until the fun comes crashing to an end, and their friendship is put to the test. Boost gives us a glimpse into the awkward adventure of a teenage boyhood, then the jolt, when that innocence ends abruptly.
