Gear up for Father's Day with our list of Memorable Movie Dads!

Father's Day is upon us once again! Whether you're getting together with family, heading up to the cottage, or just hitting the park for some fresh air it's always good to mix in a cinematic adventure. We've all got a favourite movie; ok, well at least a top 3. And there's nothing like sitting back with family and friends to take in everyone's favorites. What better reason to check out the Cineplex store's Father's Day sale and earn some extra Scene points!

To inspire your viewing choices, we've got a list of the most memorable movie dads coming at you before the weekend. Take a look, there's something here for everyone.

Marlin - Finding Nemo/Finding Dory

"If this is some kind of practical joke, it's not funny, and I know funny. I'm a clownfish!"

This guy's one of our favourite dads from the Disney universe of animated classics! He might be a tad overprotective but we love him for it. His perseverance in following his lost son, Nemo, across the ocean inspires adventures with a wide array of sea creatures including sea turtles, a shark, a pelican, and more! Just keep swimming buddy.

Darth Vader - Star Wars

"Luke, I am your father"

Vader may not win father of the year - but he's certainly memorable! He's the grumpy Sith lord everybody loves to hate. He and Luke start off on the wrong foot, but by the end of the original trilogy fate "forces" Vader to step up as a dad.

Howard Langston - Jingle All the Way

"Put that cookie down!"

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a workaholic mattress salesman who leaves his Christmas shopping until the last minute in this cult holiday classic. But he wins us over by putting it all on the line for a coveted "Turbo Man" doll for his son. He goes from being an absentee dad to becoming his son's favourite superhero (literally)!

Maurice - The Beauty and the Beast

"Don't be afraid"

Maurice may be a little scatter-brained but he never loses track of his love for Belle. This kooky inventor seems weird to some but he always encourages his daughter to be true to herself. That's a pretty good message to be passed around these days.

Ego - Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

"Death will remain a stranger to both of us, as long as the light burns within the planet."

Ego's another one of those guys who probably won't be sipping coffee out of a "world's best dad" mug since he wasn't even around for most of Star-Lord's life. We won't give anything away since Guardians is still in theatres. All we can say is go see Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and you'll see what we mean.

Gru - Despicable Me/Despicable Me 2/Despicable Me 3

"Assemble the minions!"

Gru tried to give his three adopted daughters back to the orphanage in the first movie but has since redeemed himself. He's an evil genius with the heart of a kitten. We can't wait for Despicable Me 3 which hits Cineplex theatres June 30th! Be sure to catch more of Gru's (and the minion's) antics in the new installment. Buy your tickets now!

Don Vito Corleone - The Godfather

"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse."

This performance won Marlon Brando his 2nd Oscar and established him as one of the greatest actors ever. If you're part of his family he'll go to the ends of the Earth for you...if not, you may end up swimming with the fishes. For anyone who's seen The Godfather, Don Vito Corleone is family you always want in your corner.

Atticus Finch - To Kill a Mockingbird

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."

Atticus is that parental figure that everyone with kids should emulate. He's kind, understanding, and stands up for what's right. Gregory Peck also won an Oscar for this performance and rightfully so. As far as single dads go he hits it out of the ballpark!

Daniel Hillard/Mrs. Doubtfire - Mrs. Doubtfire

"I don't need a hand, I need a face."

The late Robin Williams puts on a tour de farce in this one. He's a down-on-his-luck dad who just wants to spend more time with his kids. So, he does what any other divorced dad would do - he dresses up as a nanny and moves in with his estranged wife and kids.

Bryan Mills - Taken/Taken 2/Taken 3

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you."

The above quote says it all. You mess with Liam Neeson's family in the Taken franchise he will seriously mess you up. Get the blood pumping and watch one of them this weekend!

Rent or buy these titles at the Cineplex Store! And have a very happy Father's Day!
