After releasing a viral video and first trailer for the film back in June, The Martian cast is back to talk to a NASA psychologist after spending 10 days in isolation in preparation for their Mars voyage. The new video showcases the varied personalities of the mission crew including Matt Damon’s soon-to-be-stranded Mark Watney and Jessica Chastain as tough-as-nails commander Melissa Lewis. Askel Hennie, Sebastian Stan, Michael Pena, and Kate Mara round out the rest of the space team.
It’s a good thing Watney’s most-pressing issue after spending 10 days in isolation is about Aquaman’s powers because he’s going to have a lot of time on his own to think after he’s presumed dead and left on Mars following an emergency evacuation by the fellow crew members. Alive and stranded alone on a hostile planet, Watney is put to the test as he attempts to figure out a way to let Earth and his crew know he’s survived if he’s to have any hope for rescue.
Based on Andy Weir’s best-selling novel with a screenplay by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods), The Martian’s release date was recently moved up to an October 2 debut. Before that, the film will hold its world premeire at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
