Neil Patrick Harris joins Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck for Gone Girl

David Fincher’s Gone Girl has been one hot property for Tinseltown.  A bevy of beautiful people were rumoured to be in talks with the director for the title role in the film, including Olivia Wilde, Abbie Cornish, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt but the director finally settled on an actress for the role, naming Rosamund Pike as star last month.

The blonde Brit will star alongside recently named cast member Ben Affleck, and the newest additions to the cast: Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry.

No word on who Harris or Perry will play, though their inclusion is a bit of a head-scratcher due to their comic leanings and Fincher's typically dark fare.  The pair will be in supporting cast roles alongside David Clennon who will play dad to Pike's gone girl.

Pike was whispered to be Fincher’s first pick last month, but now reports confirm she’s set to star as Amy Dunne, a woman who mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary to husband Nick (Affleck).  The movie is based on the best-selling book by Gillian Flynn which has been on Hollywood's radar since its publication in 2012.

Author Flynn is on board to adapt her book into the screenplay.  The movie will mark Fincher’s first film since directing 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Pike is currently starring in the British comedy The World’s End and Affleck is on screen next month in Runner Runner opposite Justin Timberlake.

Gone Girl will likely hit theatres in 2015, giving you plenty of time to read Flynn’s novel.
