Present Laughter, Pokemon the Movie and Follies top our November Events list

November is here and this month's Event Cinema lineup is enough to keep the oncoming winter chill away! We've got a wide variety of different screenings, from ballet and Broadway to anime, to warm your hearts.

November 2nd: Present Laughter

The great actor Kevin Kline stars in the Broadway hit Present Laughter, which follows Garry Essendine, a self-indulgent actor who receives a visit from a young admirer, initiating a parade of intruders and interruptions, including his ex-wife, his manager and an aspiring playwright.

November 5th: Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You!

This special event explores Ash and Pikachu’s first meeting and their adventures as they search for the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. The pair encounter familiar faces along the way, new characters including Trainers Verity and Sorrel, and even a mysterious new Mythical Pokémon, Marshadow. Cinema audiences who attend the showings will also receive a never-before-seen card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game featuring Pikachu wearing its Trainer’s hat, as seen in Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! (While supplies last. Limited quantities available).

November 10th: A Silent Voice: The Movie

A deaf elementary school girl, Shoko Nishimiya, transfers to a new school and meets a boy named Shoya Ishida in her new class. Shoya, who is not deaf, leads the class in bullying Shoko, because she is deaf. As the bullying continues, the class starts to bully Shoya for bullying Shoko. After graduating from elementary school, Shoko and Shoya do not speak to each other… until later, when Shoya, tormented over his past, decides he must see Shoko once more.

November 11th: Die Zauberflöte

Met Music Director Emeritus James Levine conducts Tony Award winner Julie Taymor’s production of Mozart’s masterpiece, Die Zauberflöte. Golda Schultz makes her Met debut as Pamina with Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night, Charles Castronovo as the fairy tale prince Tamino, Markus Werba as the bird-catching Papageno, Christian Van Horn as Sprecher, and René Pape as Sarastro. Presented in German with English subtitles.

November 16th: Follies

Stephen Sondheim’s legendary musical is staged for the first time at the National Theatre and broadcast live to cinemas! In New York, 1971, there’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves. Winner of Academy, Tony, Grammy and Olivier awards, Sondheim’s previous work includes A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd and Sunday in the Park with George.

November 18th: The Exterminating Angel (Adès)

Based on the screenplay by Luis Buñuel and Luis Alcoriza for the acclaimed 1962 Buñuel film. Directed by the librettist Tom Cairns, the ensemble cast features Audrey Luna as Leticia Maynar; Amanda Echalaz as Lucia de Nobile; Sally Matthews as Silvia de Ávila and Sophie Bevan as Beatriz, both in Met debuts.
