At San Diego’s Comic-Con this past July, Legendary Pictures made a surprise announcement that King Kong reboot featuring the origin story of the colossal beast would be heading our way. Now we finally have a name attached to the movie: Tom Hiddleston.
According to a studio press release, the Only Lovers Left Alive and Thor star will head up Skull Island’s cast in a yet-to-be-announced role. No plot details have been released at this time, but we do know that the film will be primarily set on Skull Island, King Long’s jungle home.
Godzilla writer Max Borenstein is behind the script with The Kings of Summer director Jordan Vogt-Roberts behind the camera.
We’ll have to wait just over two years until we can see the charismatic Hiddleston’s adventure on Skull Island since the film’s targeted release date is set for November 4, 2016 with production expected to begin next year. Hiddleston is currently in production on the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light and will next be on our screens in 2015’s Guillermo del Toro horror Crimson Peak.
