Ant McPartlin shot to fame as a tragically wounded teenager on the British teen drama series "Byker Grove," but is best known for his successful musical and television career as one-half of the popular comedy duo Ant & Dec. Ant met Declan "Dec" Donnelly on the set of "Byker Grove," where their real-life friendship reflected their characters' on-screen relationship. The duo left the series in 1993 and recorded several successful pop albums under the name PJ & Duncan, taken from the names of their characters on "Byker Grove." After appearing as a guest on a number of British TV shows, including the long-running variety series "Top of the Pops," Ant, along with Dec and presenter Helen Soraya, became host of the weekend children's series "SM:TV Live." The show, which blends celebrity interviews with comedy sketches and competitive game segments, won numerous awards during its five-year run and turned Ant into a major TV personality. From 2002 to 2009, Ant served as co-host and executive producer of the wildly successful sketch comedy series "Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway," which also offered viewers the chance to call in and win prizes. He has since hosted several British primetime reality series, including the popular "Britain's Got Talent," and portrayed TV producer Gary Shoefield in the sci-fi comedy "Alien Autopsy," about Shoefield's infamous attempt to re-create a mysterious alien autopsy video.
